# Offline QR code

### Situation

Picture this, you're the proud owner of a dessert shop. Shoppers enter your brick-and-mortar store and love your tasty treats, but you're having a difficult time converting them into repeat purchasers. They shop once, then never hear from you again. And soon, they forget about the value they once saw while browsing your shelves.

You'd love to shoot them a quick reminder, but collecting their contact information slows down checkout or discourages sales. You're likely wondering, how can I capture their attention and build a deeper relationship that lasts long after they exit the store?

This can happen if you own a retail location, organize a pop-up, or attend an event and meet your customers offline.

The current method is to ask them to follow you on social media. However there's 2 issues:

1. Changing Feed algorithms might hide your content
2. You can't tailor messages to social media followers

### Solution

This is where a 1send QR code comes in handy. A QR code is a square barcode that links to a URL of your choice. Because 1send has a 1-click subscription URL, customers can scan the code and instantly given the option for subscription. Making this a quick simple way to gain subscribers. Subscribers that you can DM immediately.

You can create a QR code using a number of online services. Add it to:

* Posters
* At the register
* Flyers
* Thank you messages

With a quick scan of their phone, a shopper will sign up for your newsletter and cash in on any incentive you've offered.

### Advanced

QR code links can be customized for each event with special `ref` parameter. This allows 1send to tag subscribers based on the event they subscribed from. Doing so lets you send segmented campaigns specifically for subscribers that came from that event.

For example, a few days after participating in a pop-up, you can then send an exclusive promotion only to the people who came to your pop-up.
